The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
